Is nature calling you home?

Anchor to the natural rhythms of life

Ecocentric therapies provide a framework to reconnect with nature

Nature-Based Therapy

Nature-based, or ecocentric therapy encourages us to reconnect to the natural cycles of life and the natural world. Therapy sessions may find ways to bring natural elements indoors or be held in outdoor settings for a direct connection to the elements.

The elements are used for symbolic release in a variety of therapeutic approaches such as expressive arts, mindfulness, EMDR, somatic parts work, or spiritual resourcing within a person’s belief system. By using an integrative approach, your healing journey can be individualized to meet your needs, ensuring all parts of you feel seen, heard, and held by nature.

“Polyvagal theory offers an understanding to nervous system states & physiological arousal in responses to trauma, stress, excitement, joy, rest, etc. Ecocentric polyvagal theory offers an actionable path to honoring, witnessing, & holding space for all natural rhythms.”

Benefits of Nature-Based Therapy

You're never too old to play in the dirt.

Nature-based therapy is proven to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Nature can serve as a co-regulator and offer a calm, grounding, restorative environment.
Being in nature is proven to reduce cortisol levels and increase dopamine and serotonin. Cortisol is often referred to as the "stress hormone".
There are many mindful ways that we can engage with the natural world. For some, a reconnection to nature can enhance feelings of connection to something greater than the self and enhance spiritual connections.
Nature offers a path to increased self-awareness and personal growth through metaphor and felt-sense experiences that emerge as we move into connection with the natural elements.

Discover all that you are and everything you can become.
